Finally after three years of being with my amazing boyfriend Cody, he popped the question! He went above and beyond with his proposal it was a weekend full of surprises and over-the-top thoughtfulness.
To dig deeper into details on his amazing proposal. (Gentlemen please take notes!) On our third anniversary we decided to do a staycation at the Hyatt in Scottsdale Arizona we live in Gilbert, which is about 30 minutes away. I thought it was going to be a normal anniversary dinner and one night stay at a really nice hotel but to my surprise we arrived and there was a birds of prey demonstration going on (Cody did not plan this part, however I am a huge nerd anything nature or geeky I am all about so this already made my day)
we enjoyed a few margaritas watch the birds of prey then headed to the room to get ready for dinner. Walking to dinner Cody took me the opposite direction and surprised me with an amazing gondola ride, I know gondolas in Scottsdale Arizona? Yes it exist we hopped on the boat and the boat driver serenaded us in Italian opera music which was absolutely perfect!! (I have my undergrad degree in European history so anything historical are European I was lose my mind over) After the gondola ride is when Cody popped the question I was at a loss for words and beyond excited to except his proposal.
We headed off to dinner I was beaming with excitement. He then surprised me with a special table and my favorite dessert crème brûlée
finishing up dinner we then headed to the bar and the local band stopped what they were doing and announced us and we danced in the middle of the hotel to our song which is Ed Sheeran “thinking out loud”. (All planned by Cody earlier that week) I was so embarrassed yet so excited at the same time I forgot how to dance! And of course that wouldn’t be enough for Cody who is a hopeless romantic, the next morning he surprised me with some of my friends for a brunch at the hotel!
The fun doesn’t stop there ladies and gentlemen he then had a surprise dinner with the rest of my friends who couldn’t make it to the brunch later on that night. feeling exhausted from all the excitement we came home and as some of you know we love our cat Essa. She is our whole world and our baby. Cody had gotten her necklace that she was wearing when we got home that said “my mom said yes” with our anniversary date engraved on it as well!!!!
(Holy S**** I got really lucky with this one, 2 whole days of surprises and the perfect ring!)
So now that I am engaged I have been working on some wedding planning which I am over the moon about, ready?!?!?
Cody and I have decided to get married overseas in IRELAND!! So over the next 11 months I will be sharing all of the ups and downs of planning a wedding overseas. I am hoping that there are more ups than downs (fingers crossed) with the time change it is already become difficult to talk to venues so I hope you stay tune and enjoy our journey to happily ever after.
